We may serve contemporary dishes in an equally classically modern atmosphere, but the DEWZ story starts with a bit of nostalgia.
When original owners Judy Aspesi and her son, Scott Aspesi, established DEWZ in 1997, they had recently suffered a great loss. Scott’s brother, Dewayne, had just lost his arduous battle with leukemia. It was in his brother’s honor that Scott named the restaurant DEWZ.
Judy and Scott served as active, hands-on owners for 20 years, until turning the Modesto dining icon over to the Jacinto Family.
The Jacinto Family has worked to preserve the great DEWZ legacy, while also continuing to make the restaurant a true destination for great food, wine, and atmosphere. They take great pride in that DEWZ has been passed from one loving family to another, maintaining the tradition of DEWZ being a family-owned restaurant.
